89 students fall prey to swine flu infection – Pune

Eighty-nine students from 57 schools and 11 colleges have been reported as suffering from swine flu infection, since the new academic session got underway. Among the infected students, 71 are school going children and 18 are college students.

“Most of them have recovered and have started attending their respective classes,” said a state public health official.

“As a precautionary measure, a team of doctors was also sent to the respective schools and colleges for screening the classmates of the affected students. However, none were found with flu symptoms,” said the official.

Meanwhile, 46 fresh cases of swine flu were detected in the district on July 27, taking the number of infected people up to 677 since April 1.

A total of 1,112 people were also administered Tamiflu after screening on Tuesday. Most of them were suffering from symptoms like fever, sore throat and mild breathlessness – all symptoms of swine flu.
